Jasper’s Basic Mechanisms of the Epilepsies Workshops

March 23-27, 2009, Yosemite National Park

Event Description:
Every decade the Jasper’s Basic Mechanisms of the Epilepsies Workshops provide an opportunity for basic research scientists in epilepsy to assess where the field of epilepsy has been, what it has accomplished and where it should go. Through the workshops and resulting book, it is time to stimulate a new intellectual ferment in understanding the genetic, molecular, and cellular and systems mechanisms of epilepsies. For the first time, the 2009 Workshops demand translation of epilepsy disease mechanisms into molecular epilepsy therapeutics. The new Workshops on Molecular Epilepsy Therapeutics will stimulate the development of cures by stem cell and gene therapy, as well as repairs for the epilepsies.

Sponsorship: The organizers gratefully acknowledge sponsorship from the CNS Foundation to help support the Workshops on Molecular Epilepsy Therapeutics

Chairs: Jeffrey Noebels, Massimo Avoli, Michael Rogawski,
Richard Olsen, Antonio Delgado-Escueta
